Data Scientist @ Football Australia
There are a couple of international roles that have come up potentially off the back of the World Cup, and this is one of them.
This one's a data science role at Football Australia, based at Moore Park in Australia. The role they're advertising is pretty generic. It focuses on developing models and delivering reports and supporting all of the national teams, so it's broadly framed, roughly the size and shape of a decision science kind of role. But it also says they'd like you to bring complementary skills across SQL, APIs and pipelines, which suggests something more full stack than that.
If I'm honest there's no real tech stack defined here. It says Python or R, and AWS, Snowflake, Databricks or similar, and that vagueness could indicate much more of a single operator kind of role. What's missing from the JD is any sense of existing infrastructure. It does say you'd be part of the "Football Intelligence team", which implies there are other people, but who those other people are isn't really covered, so it's hard to tell much about the structure from this.
So it's a pretty generically described role, with generic tech skills, and no real sense of where you'd sit. Flexible work arrangements, presumably based in Australia. And no closing date as far as I can see on the application form.
