Welcome to Between the Lines

I started this site as a place to collect the posts I've been making on LinkedIn analysing job adverts for data roles at football clubs. That's the main reason it exists.

I do various other things too, and I occasionally write about data, AI and football organisations more broadly. I also sometimes present at conferences or on broadcast, but not as often as I could. If you want to know why, you can do find that here.

Why is this site called 'Between the Lines'?

I started this site writing about what you can tell about a club's data capability from how they write their job adverts. Reading between the lines, essentially.

(Honestly though, I just thought it sounded cool. Mostly I compare Data Science teams to restaurants as I did here, but that doesn't really work for football.)
